PetersenDean Roofing and Solar was the largest independently owned roofing and solar company in the United States, founded in 1984 by Jim Petersen. Based in Fremont, California, the company specialized in integrated roofing and solar solutions for both residential and commercial clients across several states. At its peak, PetersenDean employed nearly 3,000 workers and achieved annual sales between $300 million to $400 million. The company offered a wide range of services, including roofing design, installation, and construction, as well as solar electric system design and installation. PetersenDean was unique in the industry as it was the only major solar installer that was also a licensed roofer, providing a fully integrated roofing and solar warranty. The company served a diverse clientele, including homeowners, homebuilders, and commercial developers, and was recognized as a top-ten U.S. solar installer. However, as of early 2021, PetersenDean ceased all operations.
